We all know this life brings many challenges, but God's Word tells us to "take heart" because Jesus Christ has already overcome this world. (John 16:33) I've found that I can rest in him and lay my burdens at the feet of Jesus when I firmly stand on his Word. Here are four of my favorite scriptures to meditate on when I'm feeling overwhelmed.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28 MSG
God, my God, I yelled for help and you put me together. God, you pulled me out of the grave, gave me another chance at life when I was down-and-out. Psalm 30:2 MSG
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. Psalm 94:19 NIV
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8:26 MSG
